The USS Arizona is a Pennsylvania-class battleship built for and by the United States Navy in the mid-1910s. It was named in honor of the 48th State's recent admission in to the Union. The USS Arizona memorial is an integral part of the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The USS Arizona memorial marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 by Japanese forces.
The Pearl Harbor Historical sites are now part of the US National Parks Service. Around 4500 guests visit this National Park each day, making it one of the most visited attractions in Hawaii.
